RIBBLE Valley MP Nigel Evans today joined calls for the North West Regional Health Authority to hold a full inquiry into the death of 21-month-old Lewis Jackson, who had been turned away from several hospitals in the region before being taken to one in Stoke-on-Trent, 85 miles away. Mr Evans said he could not see any reason why the child had to be taken so far for treatment.
His call came on the day television news bulletins gave details of the tragic situation faced by Lewis's parents, John and Helen Jackson of Monk Street, Clitheroe, which was exclusively revealed by the Lancashire Evening Telegraph on December 29.
