FOR the past few months, we have heard the continued bleating from county hall about funding and budgeting and how we would be affected by the proposed cutbacks.

How pleasing it was to read (LET, January 11) that a delegation from the LCC had visited the Gulu region of Uganda to carry out a feasibility study.

Perhaps Graeme Bell and his fellow delegates could find time for a low-cost feasibility trip to Sabden and other villages in East Lancashire to see how they could foster links to improve the schools and traffic calming measures we so dearly need.

I will gladly let them have their duty-free allowances but I cannot promise any sunshine.
