PUPILS at Hollins County High School, Accrington, raised £1,000 for the SuperScan Appeal.
The cheque was presented to the Hyndburn committee for the appeal and the school received a Gold Award certificate. The youngsters raised the cash through a raffle, tombola, Christmas concert, playing music in Accrington at Christmas and collecting money in jars.
Each year, the school raises money at Christmas for a charity chosen by the pupils. The school council members - two pupils from each form - decided that 1995's charity would be the SuperScan but they also donated some of the money raised to Chris Hurst, a former pupil recently involved in a serious road accident while on a scholarship in America.
