CLOSED circuit TV cameras are needed in Haslingden to detect vandals and other troublemakers, Coun Bob Wilkinson and Coun Anne Goldsworthy told Rossendale Police and Community Forum.

There have been problems at old people's flats in Greenfield Gardens, Haslingden, with youngsters congregating and causing a nuisance.

And Coun Wilkinson said residents in the Sunnybank Street area of Haslingden had complained about broken windows and annoyance from young people.

He appealed for more police presence in Sunnybank Street, Peel Street and Parkinson Street.

Coun Goldsworthy said Haslingden needed a closed circuit surveillance system to detect vandals and other offenders.

Rossendale police chief Superintendent Clive Fothergill, said his officers would look into any problems in the Sunnybank Street area.
