BURNLEY manager Jimmy Mullen has refused to rule out a fresh signing to boost the Clarets Second Division promotion thrust.

The Clarets sailed past the half-way mark in the season with a storming 4-3 victory over Stockport County and today Mullen went in search of further precious league points at Rotherham United.

The Turf Moor chief has already drastically cut his wage bill with the departure of Adrian Heath, Tony Philliskirk and Adrian Randall.

And Alan Harper is still expected to join Third Division Cardiff City once he recovers from knee surgery.

He said: "What I've got to ask now is: Are we strong enough in every department. I have to look long and hard at the situation.

"Are we going to be strong enough between now and next May. I'm no exception. Every manager in England will be doing the same.

"I am constantly searching for fresh talent to strengthen the squad. I am certainly keeping my options open.

"This is a good Burnley squad but, maybe, it is not the finished article. Maybe, over the next few weeks, there will be somebody out there we can bring in. It all depends on the availability of players." Added Mullen: "But what you have to remember is that we have good players in the squad like John Francis, Chris Brass and Andy Cooke."

"They have all come to the fore recently and performed very well. I am very confident that we can make a very big challenge for automatic promotion. The spirit is good and I am more determined than ever to achieve that goal."

Burnley's Football in the Community scheme are running February half-term and Easter Soccer schools.

The February school runs from Monday to Friday (10 am to 3.00 pm) during the half-term holiday, with the Easter school in early April.

Cost will be approximately £25, with Haven Holidays donating one-week holidays for prize draws, and each child will receive a voucher for £40 off a Haven holiday.

To register for the schools, which are for 8-14 year olds, contact the Community office on 01282 831456.
