A YOUNGSTER was one step away from TV stardom when he reached the final auditions for an acting part in a Dairylea Granada TV commercial.

Hundreds of young models applied for the part and 10-year-old Christopher Kay, of Maple Crescent, Rishton, got through to the last 20.

He went to the TV studios for the final audition but did not land the part, which would have involved a flight to Cape Town, South Africa, at the beginning of next month. His mother, Sue, said: "I was more disappointed than he was, but he did very well to reach the final stages. It would have been his first acting part."

Christopher and his 12-year-old sister Emma have stepped out on the catwalk during the last 12 months for high street names like Next, Benetton, Marks and Spencer, BHS and Debenham's. Both of them hope to break into TV work and acting.

Christopher is a pupil at St Peter and St Paul Primary School, Rishton, and Emma attends St Wilfrid's CE High School, Blackburn.

Both youngsters, were recently accepted by the Little Dimples child model and casting agency in Leigh.
