RESIDENTS-only parking is being considered for side streets near Blackburn Rovers' football ground.
Residents will be consulted on a package of plans drawn up by Blackburn Council to restrict parking, particularly on match days.
Stopping supporters parking in the side streets off Bolton Road, south of the ground, would improve traffic flows after the game and speed up the process of dispersal, the council's planning and highways committee was told.
Residents-only parking would also improve emergency access during a match and hopefully reduce the amount of police time needed to deal with inconsiderate and dangerous parking, said a report. It added that a postal survey of affected homes showed overwhelming support for the concept of permit parking.
Residents will now be consulted on detailed plans.
Permit-only parking is being considered for the full lengths of Stewart Street, and unnamed side streets on Bolton Road between numbers 543 and 545, 561 and 563, 579 and 581, 597 and 599 and adjacent to 617.
No parking between 10am to 10pm except for permit holders is being considered for the full lengths of Ashville Terrace, Edmund Street, Ferguson Street, Finsbury Place, Oakfield Road, Vincent Street, Vincent Court and Stewart Street.
