REGARDING the Regional Railways slogan: "When there's a station on the doorstep, who wants to get behind the wheel?". Yes, we have stations on the doorstep, but you cannot use them because Regional Railways run a "limited-stop" system.
Passengers wishing to use the overnight trains to London and Scotland, via Preston, are confronted with extra fares for taxis to the principal stops - Accrington, Blackburn and Bamber Bridge, depending where they live.
The slogan should read: "We stop at all stations." After all, the railway is our lifeline to the major cities.
Station on the doorstep, indeed!
