HEALTH studio workers Vicky Lee and Denise Hartley are set to become charity champions when they run the London Marathon in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The dynamic duo, who both work at Lee Carter Studios in Clitheroe, hope to raise more than £5,000 when they run Britain's toughest road race at the end of April.

Vicky, 40, has been guaranteed a place but Denise, 26, has not.

She hopes that a running club, company, or organisation with a spare place will transfer it to her so she can also take part.

They are both in serious training and can often been seen pounding the streets of Clitheroe.

Vicky said: "I have always wanted to run the marathon but I never thought I would actually do it.

"We are both really looking forward to doing it and hopefully raising plenty of money for Marie Curie. We are aiming for at least £5,000 between us. "Both of us enjoy running but we have never done anything like this before.

"We hope to get a lot of support from our business contacts as well as family and friends from the studio.

"In the past we have done a lot for charity but we have never supported Marie Curie, which is one of the reasons we chose it.

"But I also wanted to help the charity because my brother has just started working for them as a geneticist in their research lab in Hampshire.

"Everyone at Marie Curie is working so hard to beat cancer that they deserve all the help we can give them."

If anyone can help either with a place for Denise, or sponsorship money, contact Vicky or Denise at Lee Carter Studio on 01200 24475.
