LEIGH MINERS are being told to forget all that's happened so far this season.

Instead, they must concentrate on the coming eight-game run-in as they strive for Premier League safety - and respectability.

It begins at Twist Lane on Saturday (March 2) with the visit of Hemel Hempstead.

And Miners are hoping the bad times ended last weekend in a miserable 38-0 slump at West Hull.

Without several first teamers, there was dogged resistance, Winston Sarsfield and Jason Battersby doing their best.

But, with the rain lashing down and Wests running in tries at will, Miners were just happy to hear the final whistle.

Miners A reached the Holden Cup Final in a rugged 28-22 thriller at Parkside Golborne.

The match went into extra-time with the scores locked on 18-18.

But it was eventually won with winger Matt Irwin rushing for a terrific hat-trick of tries.

Sadly, the red card twice came out as tempers frayed, but a decisive try from defender Paul Coop pointed the way to victory.
