FUND-RAISERS were celebrating the coming season with a spring dance and supper in aid of SuperScan.

Clitheroe National Farmer's Union ladies' social section organised the event at West Bradford Village Hall.

And the Penguins Swimming Club, Blackburn, have been giving their time and energy by taking part in sponsored swims, raising more than £500 for the appeal.

This week the donations banked into the account have risen to a total of £57,000.

Also in aid of the appeal is a Glam Rock evening at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors, on Saturday, March 23, when people have been invited to indulge in the sounds and dress of the seventies. Tickets are priced at £15 and further information about the evening is available on 01254 889658, 886041 or 876645.

And everyone is welcome to take part in a charity fun night at the Red House Motel, Blackburn, on March 20.

Tickets are £3.50 and are available from the Red House, the appeals office on 01254 687146 and fund raising committee chairman Terry Barber on 202495.

The money is being raised to buy a life-saving Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanner for the people of East Lancashire to be housed at Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
