FIVE East Lancashire home improvement authorities are among 22 in the North West to be offered more than £m to help the elderly, disabled, and those on low incomes to repair and improve their homes.
Blackburn Council's Car and Repair scheme, Burnley Council's Staying Put project, Hyndburn Council's Hyndburn Homewise, Rossendale Council's Care and Repair and South Ribble Council's Staying Put scheme are among agencies set to benefit.
They will share in £629,023 being made available in the North West. A total of 148 home improvement agencies nationwide will receive grants totalling almost £4.4 million.
The agencies provide advice on grants and other sources of funding, finding a suitable builder and ensuring the work is completed satisfactorily.
The emphasis is on providing a comprehensive service to help people through the whole process of carrying out the work.
