I CONGRATULATE Blackburn conservative Party on appointing Britain's first Asian woman prospective parliamentary candidate.

One major reason for her being selected is, I believe, because Blackburn has a large population of ethnic minorities.

But why was Geeta Sidhu selected in a seat which has been safely held by Labour for over four decades?

Is it because the Tories don't like putting up non-white candidates in the safe Tory seats up and down the country?

Geeta Sidhu says Blackburn is a fabulous place, surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain. But if she looks down at the bottom of the hills of those surrounding countryside, she will see one of the most deprived towns in the UK, with 20,000 houses unfit to live in, declining manufacturing industries and high unemployment, especially among young people and the ethnic minorities. Thousands of workers are on low incomes and average wages re below £3 an hour.

Blackburn is a dump with no future.
