VOTERS in Blackburn and Darwen have only a few days to check whether their name is on the electoral register, making them eligible to vote in the May 2 district council elections.
Most people over the age of 18 living in Britain have the right to vote, but only if their name is included on the register before March 20.
People unable to attend a polling station on election day through illness or because they are away on holiday or business may qualify for a postal or proxy vote.
Postal and proxy applications need to reach the council's electoral registration unit by noon on April 15, though late applications caused by sudden illness will be accepted up to noon on April 24.
To check the list, and apply for proxy or postal votes, contact the unit on Blackburn 585920.
