A CHILDREN'S play area could be grassed over after being repeatedly vandalised.
The playground in June Street, in the Audley area of Blackburn, has a history of misuse.
Two petitions from residents have been handed in at the Town Hall requesting its removal.
Repairs in the last 18 months have cost almost £1,500 but vandals torched the equipment and safety surface.
Members of Blackburn's Development Services Committee will be told that to grass over the surface and remove the debris will cost £2,000.
Cash for the scheme would be provided by the play area maintenance budget.
