SHOPPERS are being invited to tuck into a store's new line - in canned dog and cat food!
Bosses at the Blackburn branch of Asda are taking the unusual step of serving up free samples of the Tiger feline food and Hero canine cuisine.
And customer services manager Bernadette Hawryluk says customers are more than welcome to try a spoonful for themselves.
Asda are introducing the new pet foods nationally, but the bizarre demonstration is believed to be exclusive to the store at Lower Audley.
Bernadette added: "We hope to be opening a few tins and dishing the contents out on to a plate so that the customers can see the succulent meaty foods for themselves. Unfortunately we won't be allowing pets inside the store to try the food, but their owners can try it if they wish."
In-store demonstrators will stand in the pet food aisles with the product in the same way they usually show off new biscuits and cakes.
Staff dressed in tiger and dog outfits will also accompany the demonstrators.
The launch has also left the branch with three pallets full of the old brand animal dinners which they now plan to donate to charity.
The food will later be handed over to the Altham branch of the RSPCA.
