FESTIVAL fever hits Leigh's Hilton Park later this month.

A four-day festival, called the 'Hilton Park Gala Weekend' is being jointly organised by Leigh RMI and Leigh Centurions RLC.

The festival takes place from May 24-27, and the centre piece of the Bank Holiday spectacular is an evening with the Houghton Weavers in a specially constructed marquee.

The marquee will host entertainment on each of the four nights, with Irish line dancing, a mixed dinner and a big band night with the famous Ronnie Moore Orchestra.

On top of this, there will be carnival-style fun days on the Saturday and Monday, sandwiching the Sunday Rugby League clash between Leigh Centurions and Doncaster Dragons.

The fun days will feature stalls, bouncy castles, rugby and soccer tournaments, and a host of other attractions.

"This festival will be a great event for everyone in the locality and is sure to grab the town's imagination," said Centurions chairman, Mick Higgins.

Tickets for all the evening events and more details of the festival can be obtained by ringing 01942 743743.
