HAVING never contributed to your letters page before, I felt sufficiently outraged by the rejection of the bill of local Darwen and Rossendale MP, Janet Anderson, to write and say how very low certain Tory members have sunk in their responsibilities to the electorate, to have rejected the proposal to set up a national register of paedophiles.
Over the last few years, the incidents of child molestation and pornography, which are on the increase according to reports published by the police, should have been sufficient grounds for this bill to have passed through the vital stages in the legislature in order for it to become statute law.
If the Tories cannot put their differences aside and support another party's decent proposal to make sure that children are adequately protected, then what hope have any of us under an impotent administration?
