BORDEAUX striker Christophe Dugarry is only one of several players being scrutinised by Blackburn Rovers boss Ray Harford, as he bids to bring in two major signings this summer.

Dugarry, also believed to be on the hit-list of some of the Italian giants, is expected to play for Bordeaux against Bayern Munich in tonight's UEFA Cup final second leg.

But Rovers have already had him watched, as well as taking a keen interest in other French clubs.

They are also maintaining a watching brief on the situation at Queen's Park Rangers where Trevor Sinclair's position could yet change, depending on the outcome of the take-over which seems imminent at Loftus Road.

A top-class wide player and a striker seem to be the priorities and I believe they have also taken a look at Danish international striker Mikkel Beck, who has been playing in Germany.

He is also a target for Middlesbrough but I do not believe Rovers will step up any interest in him.

Sinclair would clearly be a target for several clubs, including Rovers, if Rangers were to agree to let him move after being relegated.

Though they might put too high a price on his head. Contrary to some reports, Rovers have not yet made a firm offer for Dugarry.

He looks set to move from Bordeaux this summer but things have been dragged out by the fact that the French club reached the UEFA Cup final.

From there it will be virtually straight into preparations for Euro '96 with his national side.

Rovers, I know, are eager to make their transfer moves before the start of the championships next month if at all possible.

Competition and fees will no doubt increase for anyone who impresses in the finals.

A lack of availability in England has forced them to turn to the continent and they have concentrated their efforts in France - though not only on Dugarry, his team-mate Zinedine Zidane and Bordeaux.

And Barcelona manager Johann Cruyff is also reported to be interested in Zidane.

Rovers do retain an interest in Dugarry but I understand they have been looking at other clubs in recent weeks too. France has provided some rich pickings for some of Europe's top clubs in the past couple of years.

Gary Tallon, one of several players made available by Rovers earlier this year, has joined Kilmarnock.

He follows youngsters Scott Hewitt and Phil Taylor to Scotland. Their destination was Ayr. Another young player released, Michael Holt, is believed to be joining Preston this summer.
