SANDRA Grandfield has landed a job thanks to a scheme to help graduates.

Sandra, 23, who took business studies at Teesside University, has been taken on as a sales and marketing assistant by Barnoldswick-based Carlson Filtration.

Sandra, from Nelson, spent a year working with the company as part of her sandwich course and took part in a placement under ELTEC's Graduates into Industry scheme during which she helped Carlson implement a new computer system.

"Although Sandra is the first young person we have taken on through this initiative, I am sure she will not be the last," said Steve Green, company secretary.

The initiative places young people with degrees on trial with local companies for 26 week subsidised work placements. It is managed by staff at Burnley and Pendle's Enterprise Trusts.
