GET set SuperWalkers - the big day is almost upon us.

If you have not yet registered for the SuperScan grand charity walk then now is the time for action.

More than a thousand people in East Lancashire will be pulling on firm footwear at 9am this Sunday and helping to raise a stash of cash for the appeal.

Groups, businesses, scouts and guides, families and folk in fancy dress will be taking to the streets of Blackburn or Burnley and tackling all or part of the 20-mile challenge.

Two superfit staff members at Oasis Health and Leisure Club will be burning off more energy than most on the day.

Not content with the challenge of 20 miles, former paratrooper Paul Taylor, 35, and ex-marine Eifion Salisbury, 29, will be carrying 30lb weights on their back when they join other members of their staff for the walk.

But not everyone has to be quite so enthusiastic.

People do not have to complete all of the 20-mile course and there is a free bus service to collect tired walkers.

To make sure people are totally aware of the route SuperScan guides will be posted every few miles.

Check points every two miles will make people aware of hazards and the exact paths along which to travel.

Everyone is encouraged to join in to help raise £1 million for an MRI scanner.

To get involved contact the SuperWalk hotlines - 01254 293634, or 293635, or fill in Superwalk forms available at Evening Telegraph offices or printed in the paper. They should then be posted back to SuperScan Appeals Office, Queen's Park Hospital, Haslingden Road, Blackburn, BB2 3HH and sponsor forms will then be sent out.
