IN his article 'New Lab for old' (LET, May 22), John Blunt, disguised as the aged, but wise, story-teller, attempts to portray the unions as the wicked and evil uncles of Aladdin, intent on getting hold of the magic lamp of militancy and disrupting the country's stability.
Unfortunately for his conspiracy theory - which is thin in substance, as Tony Blair has repeated time after time - the malevolent genie of the unions is bottled up and in its place is a more democratic and high-minded liberal organisation whose minimal strike record is second to none.
If Mr Blunt is ever to become more than a hack writer of illusory tittle-tattle, he will have to bone up on his facts.
