IT was announced that Princess Anne was to make a visit to East Lancashire in November visiting the Lancashire Evening Telegraph offices and the town's new £3m leisure complex Waves. The newspaper was to celebrate its centenary 15 days before the royal visit. The Princess was to be presented with money raised by Evening Telegraph readers to provide new facilities and equipment for the children's emergency hospital in Khartoum, Sudan.
