REGARDING "Terror on Roman Road" (LET, August 14), we would like Coun Jack Fairless to get his facts right.

How long is it since he has been on this estate after 5pm?

As for it being dead after five o'clock, we only wish it was.

He said only 11 people are causing problems on the estate.

This is far from the truth - it is much more than that, and the council knows who they are, but do nothing about it.

As for the 'terror' on Roman Road - loud music, vandalism, dumping of rubbish, etc - we still feel safer walking through here than the centre of Blackburn late at night. Instead of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph printing all the bad things about our estate, why don't you print some of the good points it has?

This is one of the most open estates in Blackburn, surrounded by countryside with beautiful walks, with lots of wildlife, and it has a very good community spirit.

The houses can be made lovely. There is something for everyone here - an excellent library, health centre, football pitches, a good tenants' and community association and a community centre that has something for all ages.

Why highlight the doom and gloom on the estate, when there are lots of lovely properties?

Yes, it does have some problems, but the majority of the people are decent, with lovely homes, in which they take great pride.
