SPIRITUAL help is now available through the Internet, which is carrying phone numbers of Lancashire clergy.
An 'On-line' directory has been set up. It includes contact numbers for Bishops and other senior and junior staff, church schools and hospital and prison chaplains. It is the latest development in the use of the Worldwide Web by the Diocese.
It was devised and organised by the Rev Peter Nunn, vicar of Anchorsholme, Blackpool, and a former computer programmer.
For a year there has been information about the Diocese, the Retreat House and Conference Centre and a message from the Bishop of Blackburn. An e-mail system is also being planned.
"It is important that we take every opportunity provided by modern technology to make it easier for people to find out about the Church and what it stands for," said Richard Steel, of the Church of England in Lancashire.
"We hope that as more and more people become linked to the Internet this will become an ever more valuable resource."
The directory can be found on the World-wide web at: http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/town/plaza/gt28/index.htm#top
