GIANT defender Peter Swan is on the Turf Moor transfer list.

Swan discussed his future with manager Adrian Heath over the weekend and his request for a move was granted today.

Heath explained: "Peter Swan came in and asked me for his name to be circulated.

"I've agreed to that request so he is now on the transfer list.

"If somebody comes in for him then he can go. My feelings are clear on this situation.

"Sometimes players react badly to being left out, others are model professionals and try to get on with the business of winning their places back.

"I don't want anybody here who doesn't want to play for us.

"Basically, I don't want people putting in jeopardy what we've got going for us.

"I believe we're very close to having a really good side."

Today's development will arrive as a bitter blow to Swan who appeared to have pledged his future to the Clarets on Friday.

The player said: "I'm fully fit and raring to go. "I just want to get back in the team and prove to everyone that I'm worth my shirt."

Swan, 29, arrived at Turf Moor in a £200,000 deal from Plymouth Argyle just over a year ago.

But he has not kicked a ball in senior action this season and last played a full game in Burnley's 4-0 win over Glentoran in Belfast on August 1.

Heath added: "I offered Peter Swan the opportunity of going out on loan to either Hartlepool or Hereford, which he didn't want to do.

"If he thinks that somebody can come in and buy him then that's fine by me. In fact, that goes for all of them.

"If they don't want to stay and roll their sleeves up for the cause then they are only going one way-out of Turf Moor."

The arrival of Vince Overson has not helped Swan's long-term cause. While Jamie Hoyland's form at the heart of the Clarets defence has proved a revelation. Swan is not the only first team squad member whose future at Turf Moor is under the microscope. Skipper Steve Thompson and striker Liam Robinson have had lengthy discussions with Heath about what the future holds for them.

Thompson was bitterly disappointed to be left out of the first team picture at Gillingham and has made his thoughts clear to Heath.

Meanwhile, Burnley bounced back into seventh place in Division Two after the 2-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers.

The Clarets fought back in style after Wycombe had taken a shock 16 second lead.

But first half strikes from leading marksman Kurt Nogan-his sixth and seven of the season-handed the Clarets the points.

Heath added: "We played some very good football in the first half and we deserved our success.

"It was especially pleasing that we built on the Blackpool result. The two goals were typical Kurt Nogan strikes."

Burnley's A team lost 3-0 at Stoke City while the B team lost 1-0 to Chester at Gawthorpe.
