PENSIONERS at a retirement home got a 'grape' surprise when the mayor of South Ribble paid them a visited.

Residents at Broadfield House, Broadfield Drive, were presented with juicy black grapes by the Mayor Councillor Mrs Betty Greenland when she visited on September 20.

The fruit had been picked from Worden Park and is an annual gesture on behalf of South Ribble Borough Council.

Grapes were also taken to other homes for the elderly throughout the area.
