IN an exciting local football derby, Vernons took the lead in the Lancashire Womens Knockout Cup when Natalie Justice finished a well worked out move.
Vernons increased their lead when Alison Hitchen knocked a fierce header past the PNE keeper.
Preston scored with just over five minutes to go.
After an exciting game Vernons go into the next round to play Blackpool Wren Rovers.
