A MAN from Rochdale was due to appear before Hyndburn magistrates today charged with stealing a £14,000 Land Rover Discovery from Accrington.
The Discovery was involved in an incident with a police car in Haslingden.
The 32-year-old is charged with theft of the Discovery from Burnley Road.
He is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon at Rochdale, a pick axe handle.
Detectives are continuing their inquiries into the incident in which a policeman was injured and a police car extensively damaged.
