ELTON John fan Dean Torkington boasted "I'm Still Stand-In" after tackling a huge screen explosion for his musical hero.

Burnley-born Dean, 34, was called in to act as a body double for the world famous Rocket Man during the mking of the video for his latest single, You Can Make History.

But Dean, better known as one half of Rocky Horror-style club duo Time Warp, came within a hair's breadth of missing the opportunity.

He said: "I only got 24 hours' notice, so I had to find a wig very quickly because of his new look.

"The producers contacted me and asked if I had my own. I ended up having to ring a wig maker at 11pm on a Sunday who worked through the night for me. "My girlfriend made the suit!"

Dean, who now lives in Leyland, spent a day on location in Middlesex after Elton's management got in touch with the London-based Doubles agency asking for a stand-in.

Unfortunately, Elton wasn't on the set, but Dean helped himself to handfuls of memorabilia used in the video.

Dean's part in the video lasts about a minute and shows him walking away from a burning car.

He added: "I absolutely love Elton John, so I jumped at the chance to appear."

Dean is a full-time musician who has attracted a cult following with his friend Brian Healless in the duo Time Warp.

The Elton John single is due to be released in America.
