TINY Amy Priestly saved her mother's life after she suffered an epileptic fit.

The four-year-old discovered mum Jackie in the lounge of their Holme Slack Lane house in Preston. She had been lying unconscious all night.

Amy and her three-year-old sister Charlotte tried to wake her but Jackie was out cold.

Amy said: "I tried to wake mummy up, but she wouldn't because she was poorly."

When the girls failed to turn up at St Luke's Nursery in Ribbleton Lane, staff became concerned and telephoned. Amy, who now attends St Gregory's School, answered the call: "My mummy's asleep, she's poorly. Come and help us."

Jackie said later: "I'm so proud of my little girl, she knows what my fits are like and she knew what to say.

"St Luke's were brilliant, they sent someone straight away and they arranged for someone to look after Amy and Charlotte."

It was the first time Jackie suffered a fit without any adults present. She said: "I could have choked . I don't get any warning and when I do finally come round I don't remember a thing.

"It's such a relief that Amy knows what to do.

But Jackie's problems were far from when she was rushed to hospital: "They wouldn't let me home until I had a security line fitted.

"And it was a good job, too. The following night I had a relapse and my body completely shut down. If I'd have been at home I would certainly have died."

Her home has now been fitted with an emergency alarm and Amy knows exactly what to do should Jackie fall ill again. She has even learned how to use the phone herself to call for help!
