HOW do you fancy a Gary Lineker Banoffi Pie? Or perhaps you would prefer a Jo Brand Gypsy Tart.

Chef Paul Barnard came up with his own recipe for success when he invited a host of celebrities to submit their favourite recipes for a new charity cookbook.

And now he is inviting ordinary cooks to become overnight celebrities by submitting their recipes for publication in the book.

So if you think you could come up with something as tasty as former England cricket captain David Gower's Beef Wellington, or top East Lancashire restaurateur Paul Heathcote's bread and butter pudding, now is your chance to prove it.

Paul hopes the book will be ready for Christmas and will be sold for around £2.

All proceeds will go to the Mayor of Blackburn's charity fund, Borough Aid.

Paul, who has entered his own personal favourite Greek dish, Lamb Athena, was given a helping hand putting the book together by Sue Hughes. Sue said: "It has been a lot of fun finding out what the celebrities' favourite recipes are.

"I suppose it was only to be expected that someone like Jo Brand would like a calorie-packed cake.

"As well as the nationally-famous people, we have also asked local celebrities for their recipes.

"The Mayor, Coun Mary Leaver, has put in her recipe for pork and apple hot pot."

Now the council is looking for imaginative recipes from you.

Sue added: "Anything goes - from Indian, Chinese or Middle Eastern to good old traditional English food."

Anyone lucky enough to have their recipe published will receive a free copy of the book.
