THERE have been changes at the top at Burnley-based travel firm Althams. John Cook, a great grandson of one of the original founders of the business, has been appointed a director of Althams Travel. Mr Cook, 52, has been managing director of Thomas Cook & Son Insurance Brokers since 1970 and associated with Althams for more than 25 years. Managing director and acting chairman Eddie Starkie, who this year celebrates his 40th year with the firm, is now permanent chairman.
