HOPPERS 17
NUNEATON 5
A LACKLUSTRE performance from Hoppers which keeps them in touch in the promotion battle but which will need to be improved on in the coming weeks.
Mike Bailey's return after injury was a rare positive sign.
An early try from Mick Walker and a Steve Kerry penalty were Hoppers' first half scores, although the referee saw fit to disallow what appeared to be a perfectly good second try from Walker.
Hoppers increased their lead after the break with two further penalties from Kerry and a neat John Bleasdale drop goal but then allowed Nuneaton back into the game in the final quarter. A try from fly half Gee gave the visitors hope but it was too little too late.
