THE stridency of John D Farrer (Letters, February 18) betrays his frustration at being found out. Of course, his Tory mentality tells him that being exposed as a puppet for Tory Central Office would be counterproductive, so it is essential to deny it. Looking back though, David Pearson has never denied it - oddly enough, when taxed on the same subject.

Forget the fiery arguments for and against Britain's place in Europe. All that really matters is how well this country and its people will prosper.

There has never been any doubt. Outside Europe, we would be as nothing. As a leading player, we will thrive.

A small number of anti-Europe Tories and their friends in the media are running a scandalous campaign. I can't be the only person who is sick of hearing about European issues and especially the single European currency.

We should not let the Tories get away with the past 18 disastrous years and people should cast their minds back before voting. Anything else must not be allowed to dominate the debate. The Tory Party's dirty money, shabby sex and slippery politics have left a cynical legacy that permeates every corner of society.f=Zurich Bd BTJ P VERNON, Accrington Road, Blackburn.
