A TEENAGER who fell from her horse at an isolated beauty spot was plucked to safety by a mountain rescue team.
Camille O'Donnell, 14, of Lynthorpe Road, Blackburn, toppled from her horse on the outskirts of Tockholes Woods, nearly two miles off Tockholes Road.
A passing walker who had a mobile phone raised the alarm.
Paramedics and police were forced to call in the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team because they feared they would be unable to get the teenager back to the main road.
A Darwen police spokesman said: "She was in a lot of pain and discomfort and we all had to walk from the main road to where she was lying.
"The mountain rescue team used a special mountain sleigh stretcher to carry her out. They were a great help.
"It appears the horse threw her after it was spooked."
Garry Rhodes, leader of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, said: "The young horsewoman was obviously in a great deal of pain. "
She was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary suffering from a suspected fractured hip and was "improving" today.
