FOURTEEN men attempted to make history this weekend by being the first people to drink in every pub in Oswaldtwistle in a day.
The feat failed because one of the 28 pubs was shut and the landlord of another refused to open early for the challenge. But this did not deter the pub crawl party, led by Blythe Chemicals worker Stephen Clark, who organised the event on Saturday to raise cash for Pendlebury Children's Hospital in Manchester.
Stephen, of Foxhill Terrace, Oswaldtwistle, decided on the bid after staff treated his friend's young child.
The group travelled between pubs on foot and each drinker footed £30 for the privilege of being in on the day, which started at 11am in the Hare and Hounds pub.
The kind-hearted lads also donated extra cash to their cause after the landlord of the Foxhill pub gave them free drinks and the Brown Cow pub sold them pints at half price.
