GLADIATOR Warrior is planning to carve out a new career ... in the record business!

Warrior, alias muscleman Mike Ahearne, has been considering a musical career for some time, possibly linking up with pop group The Firebirds, who specialise in singing the hits of the 50s and 60s. Mike, who is one of the longest-serving fitness men on the hit TV series Gladiators, was spotted singing along with Shawaddywaddy's hit Three Steps to Heaven at a talent spotting night in Brinscall, near Chorley, on Sunday.

Friends of Mike also say he is considering singing along to an Elvis classic, such as Jailhouse Rock.

But Mike, who has just returned from filming in Mauritius, said the project is still up in the air.

He said: "It is something I have been considering and have talked about with some friends.

"It has yet to be cleared by London Weekend Television, but it is certainly something I would like to do.

"However, I would like to sort out my court appearance first."

Mike was arrested in March after a police raid on his Birkenhead home and charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice. He is due to reappear in St Helen's magistrates court on June 9.

He is due to star at a rugby school in the Chorley area on May 18. In last week's Citizen Mike exclusively invited Blackpool kids to the day, which will be coached by, amongst other people, Fylde Rugby Club player Richard Starr.
