DID the Rochdale nightingale, Gracie Fields, ever take centre stage at a rugby match in St Helens?
The sporty query comes from Joe Jones of Irwin Road, Sutton, who vaguely remembers seeing a picture of Our Gracie kicking-off from the centre-spot during a 1920s visit by Rochdale Hornets.
"From what I can recall," adds Joe, "fun-loving Gracie wore Rochdale Hornets strip for the occasion."
NOW, he wonders if any reader can add further detail or perhaps produce a souvenir photo from that special day.
