MAY my wife and I say thanks to the Lancashire Constabulary for their superb service in recovering some garden property that was stolen from us during the night?
In just over two hours of my reporting the theft of a lawnmower and strimmer, the police returned them to us. A week later, we received a letter from Victim Support, followed a day later by a letter from the police themselves.
The people who provide the market for stolen property are the bigger of the two culprits. It is they, who should be dealt with far more severely than those who perpetrate the crime.
How often do we see the kind of sentence that may deter - some of them at least - to rethink?
