AN INTREPID health chief is hoping that thousands of people follow his example and enter a once-in-a-lifetime walk.

And Ian Woolley is urging East Lancashire companies to dig deep and sponsor him.

Mr Woolley, chairman of the Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley NHS Trust, has written to 900 members of the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce inviting companies to enter teams.

He is also inviting firms to sponsor him and has already persuaded companies to pledge hundreds of pounds for his effort.

The Motorway Superwalk will take place on August 31 and organisers are aiming for an entry of 10,000.

More than 1,200 have already returned their entry forms.

Companies wanting to sponsor Mr Woolley can call the SuperScan appeal office on 01254 687146.
