PROTESTERS are to take the streets for a second march to object to plans for a proposed care home.

About 60 cars and more than 250 people joined in a cavalcade to Burnley to protest about the planned children's home at former home for the elderly Moorland View, Clowbridge.

Now chairman of Dunnockshaw Residents' Association Mike Johnson said he hopes an equal number will join the three-quarters of a mile walk from The Glory Pub, Loveclough, to the home on Sunday at 11am.

Daryl Chick, of Homeside Care Limited, wants to open the home for children referred by local authorities.

The company already runs a similar home in London.

Planning laws mean Mr Chick does not need change of use permission to use an elderly people's home for the care of children.

Mr Johnson said: "Morally it is not right and we will be taking out fight to have the laws changed to Parliament.

"We spoke in front of Burnley Council and the planning department said they would look into the loophole.

"We are hoping Burnley is going to be fighting with us to have the laws changed.

"We understand the social services inspection unit at Burnley has almost finalised its report for the director of social services with a view to granting registration.

"That is why we feel we need to make our views known publicly again."

Mr Johnson and co-chairman Dave Latham will meet Burnley MP Peter Pike at the House of Commons in October to push for a change in the law, but they have been told it could take up to two years to achieve the changes.
