A MULTI-MILLION pound development is due to come on stream next month at an East Lancashire printing firm.

The development by commercial and specialist printers Carrprint will breathe new life into the formerly disused Calf Hall Mill, in Barnoldswick, and should mean more jobs over the next few years.

Carrprint produces a range of brochures, packaging and sales literature, as well as scratchcards for national newspapers.

Carrprint Director Stephen Fullalove, said: "This landmark building has been brought back to life for the town and we've kept jobs and business in the area.

"The mill had fallen into great disrepair, both internally and externally. We have been able to improve the appearance of the outside of the building, which has been very much welcomed by local residents. "Inside, we have created a modern, state-of-the-art factory which will strengthen the quality of service we offer customers and reinforce our reputation as one of the most forward thinking companies in the printing industry."

The mill will house two new Komori printing presses which are being installed at a cost of £3 million and are due to be fully commissioned at the beginning of August.

The company's seven other presses will also move to the former textile mill in the coming months, making Carrprint's press room one of the biggest in the country.

Carrprint, which was founded in 1918 by Robert Carr, currently employs 65 people with an annual turnover of £6.5 million.
