REGARDING the CIS challenge match between Blackburn Rovers and Aberdeen, as a Rovers' season ticket holder I gladly took the opportunity to make the long journey to the game, to catch a bit of pre-season action and have a look at some of our new signings.

I was not alone in my dedication and I was pleasantly surprised by the number of fellow supporters who had also travelled up.

In the Lancashire Evening Telegraph (July 31), our captain Tim Sherwood was proudly displaying the trophy presented at the end of the game. I am pleased that the hordes of Rovers fans at home in Blackburn have been able to admire it as this was far more than the dedicated handful who made the long and costly journey to Scotland were able to do.

Having been given the trophy, Tim continued to stand with his back to the Blackburn fans, happily posing for photographers, yet ignoring the shouts from the fans behind.

Giving Mr Sherwood the benefit of the doubt, perhaps, after 90 minutes of football, he was far too exhausted to jog the width of the pitch to where the Rovers fans were.
