DARWEN town centre traders are hoping to attract more shoppers with their own dream lottery.

More than 40 shops, many of which belong to the Darwen Town Centre Association, have clubbed together to entice shoppers with a chance of winning the £1,000 prize.

Customers choose three numbers while out shopping in participating outlets, with one shopper walking away with the jackpot if their trio of numbers are picked out. Another shopper wins £100 just by entering.

A similar scheme was tried over Easter with a jackpot of £500. Unfortunately for shoppers then, no one was lucky enough to pick the three lucky numbers, giving shoppers this month the chance to scoop the rollover £1,000.

Town Centre Association chairman John Brown explained why their lottery scheme is so attractive.

He said: "The best part of this lottery is that participants can enter as many times as they want.

"All shoppers need to do is collect one of the yellow forms from participating stores, fill in the three numbers and get the ticket stamped by the shopkeeper."

He added: "I believe we are possibly the only town centre group to run such a lottery, especially one with so many shops contributing or taking part.

"It should be even more successful than last time."

To take part, shoppers need to pick up a ticket from one of the 40 shops taking part, pick three numbers and get the shopkeeper to stamp the ticket.

Then just hope the magic finger is pointing in the right direction on Saturday, September 6, as part of the Darren-Day festivities.
