AT ABOUT lunchtime on July 30 two or three boys in Burnley town centre were annoying a man who appeared to be a tramp and who was shouting rather loudly. Everyone stared at the man rather than go to his aid - as I did, and told him, as a good citizen, to settle down and the boys to move on.
Perhaps the police would have been informed and an unnecessary arrest made of the man, when it was clear the boys were winding him up though they would no doubt have denied it. No-one wants to know any more. It's none of their business, they say. Where has good citizenship gone? Surely, being a Good Samaritan won't hurt.
