BIG-hearted Gerry Lawman was slightly off target when he made a brave attempt to beat the world darts marathon record.

Gerry, who was trying to score more than 210,172 points in six hours, was raising money for Coldwell Inn Activity Centre, Nelson.

Hampered by sweltering heat but cheered on by a packed Golden Ball pub, Colne, he threw an amazing 1,995 darts and scored a whacking 152,085.

After the exhausting effort Gerry had to pack his tired arm in ice but recovered to present a cheque to the Friends of Coldwell Inn.
