KILLER asbestos was found in a Blackburn school - but lessons were to carry on as normal for the 350 pupils.

Quantities of asbestos were found after a structural survey at St Silas' infant and junior schools in Clematis Street.

The school was to close later in the year when work started to remove the asbestos. Pupils would be evacuated to other nearby schools.
