A COUPLE'S plans for a wedding in a Caribbean paradise have been thrown into chaos.

Adrian Dugdale and his fiance Fiona Brown discovered by chance that their plans for a wedding in the Dominican Republic are being changed at the last minute.

The Blackburn couple, who booked the £4,800 holiday for four a year ago, were told by a friend who works as a travel agent that Thomson had pulled out of the Jack Tar Village resort, which specialises in weddings. Thomson had not told them.

Fiona, 22, Adrian, 29, and their friends Mick Waring and Lesa Blackburn, are due to travel in three weeks, and their fears have now been confirmed by Thomson.

Fiona, of Swan Street, Infirmary, said: "I bumped into a friend who is a travel agent and she was asking about the wedding.

"When I told her where we planning to stay she said that she had heard Thomson had pulled out of the resort because it is being refurbished."

The couple are still waiting to hear from Thomson where they will be sent.

Adrian said: "This was supposed to be our dream wedding. We went for the all-inclusive package and Caribbean wedding because we wanted someone else to take care of all the hassle and worry.

"This has just ruined everything for us. We are still waiting to find out where we are going to get married."

Thomson have known about the problem since July and are having to rearrange holidays for more than 400 people.

A spokesman for Thomson said: "We know this is a very special time for couples and we will do our best to accommodate everybody."
