VANDALS endangered the lives of passengers in an attack at a railway blackspot.
A train ploughed into a mystery object left across the track in the Stoneyholme area of Burnley.
The 7.14pm Colne to Preston train screeched to a halt 300 yards short of Burnley Central station. The incident happened as the British Transport Police stepped up patrols to beat vandalism on the line.
